After a Kelowna Car Accident: Information to Save in the First 48 Hours
A practical first-48-hours checklist for preserving photos, contact details, notes, and documents after a crash.
Start with facts you can preserve
The first hours after a collision can feel chaotic, but simple documentation can make later conversations much clearer. Save photographs of the vehicles, road position, weather, nearby signs, and visible damage. If it is safe and appropriate, note the time, location, and the direction each vehicle was travelling.
Create one accident folder
Keep driver information, police or incident references, towing or repair paperwork, photographs, and medical appointment notes in one place. A single digital or paper folder reduces the chance that important information disappears across phones, email threads, and glove compartments.
Write a short memory note
As soon as you reasonably can, write a short description of what you remember. Focus on sequence rather than blame. Record what happened before impact, what you noticed immediately afterward, and any conversations that may matter later.
Use the records for better questions
A well-organized file does not decide a claim by itself. Its value is that it helps you explain the situation accurately when speaking with an insurer, health professional, or lawyer. Use the information to prepare questions rather than relying on memory alone.
